Best Travel Adapters For International Plugs
Travelling is a fantastic way to relax and explore the world. But different parts of the world also have different power plugs. And gadgets are nowadays part of our everyday lives. In order to power them, you need the correct adapters. I have put together a list of the best travel adapters I have used everywhere around the world. It doesn’t matter if you are on a holiday or a work trip, a good international adapter is always a must.
But before getting an adapter, you should also know the kind of voltage is used in the country you are travelling to. That determines if you are going to need a voltage converter as well. If the voltage is different than what your devices are designed for, then they will most probably be fried. This is especially common if you are travelling from the USA to Europe. USA devices run on 110V and European countries use 220V. So a converter is definitely required if you are travelling from USA.

1. Kikkerland UL03-A – $8
If you are in need of a simple and light universal travel adapter, then the Kikkerland UL03-A is the one for you. It consists of 2 parts that combined together make up to 9 different plug combinations. The travel adapter itself is made out of solid ABS plastic, which feels pretty nice and I’m pretty surprised by that considering the price. It’s also pretty light, weighing just 45 g / 0.1 lbs.
It does take time to get used to the Kikkerland UL03-A. I recommend reading the instruction manual beforehand in order to fully understand how the different combinations work. It’s nothing hard as the adapter is surprisingly simple but it is quite confusing at first. Especially if you are in need of a certain plug. The 9 different plug combinations work in more than 150 countries. It also has a 6A and 110-220V voltage rating, which should be enough for any country. Also the adapter only accepts A, B and C type plugs with 2 prongs.
- Weight: 45 g / 0.1 lbs
- Plugs: USA, Australia, China, Hong-Kong, India, European Union
- Outlets: USA, Japan, European Union
- Max Power: 660W at 110V, 1300W at 220V

PS! This is not a voltage converter. So make sure that you use devices that support the voltage of the country you are at.
2. Travel Inspira Power Plug – $9
Travel Inspira is a brand that’s specialized in creating products for travelling. They have everything from foldable bags to travel bottles. But one of my favorites is their lightweight power plug adapter for travelling. It’s a super handy device for when you need different plugs.
The adapter itself can fit into the palm of your hand. It’s a pretty nice size in my opinion and like I mentioned before, also lightweight. The full dimension is 75×49×41 mm / 2.95×1.93×1.6″ and it weighs 95 g / 0.21 lbs. The body of the adapter is made out of hard plastic. Travel Inspira has also added a rubber coating to the back and the sides of the adapter. It’s a pretty nice touch in my opinion and makes it also look more expensive. I personally also like the feel of it.
The universal travel adapter is designed to work at over 150 countries. It has prongs for USA, Europe, UK and Australian type plugs. These slide out from the bottom of the adapter. I do want to note that it’s good to have a pointy object near you if you wish to use the European plug. At least I’m having troubles getting it out with my fingers. Everything else though, spot on. In addition, the adapter also has two USB 2.0 ports for charging your phone or tablet. Or any other device that can be charged with a USB cable.
- Dimensions: 75×49×41 mm / 2.95×1.93×1.6″
- Weight: 95 g / 0.21 lbs
- Plugs: UK, USA, Australia, European Union
- Outlets: UK, USA, Australia, European Union, USB x2
- Max Power: 660W at 110V, 1380W at 230V
- Allowed Voltage: 110-240V
It can also be used with multiple devices at the same time. There is a surge protector that keeps your devices safe from voltage spikes and shorting. There is even a red LED light to indicate if it’s working or not. I do want to note that this isn’t a voltage converter. So made sure that you use devices that are compatible with the voltage at the country you are staying at.
3. Poweradd Travel Power Adapter Kits – $26
The Poweradd adapter kit is one of the highest rated best travel adapters on Amazon! It features a unique modular design that makes the adapter stand out from all the rest. Besides that, it’s also one of the nicest looking ones I have ever seen.
The Poweradd universal adapter is a bit bigger than most others. It has a dimension of 119×89×30 mm / 4.7×3.5×1.2″ and weighs 195 g / 0.43 lbs. And there is also a reason for that as it includes extras. The adapter has two outlets, two 2.4A USB ports and even a 7 inch (178 mm) microUSB cable.
- Dimensions: 119×89×30 mm / 4.7×3.5×1.2″
- Weight: 195 g / 0.43 lbs
- Plugs: UK, USA, Japan, Australia, European Union
- Outlets: USA x2, USB x2, MicroUSB x1
- Max Power: 660W at 110V, 1250W at 230V
- Allowed Voltage: 100-240V
The overall build quality is also very nice. It’s made out of sturdy plastic and comes in an aluminium color. Kind of looks like an Apple product. The adapter also comes with 5 different plugs. The plugs are suitable for US, UK, Australia, Japan and the European Union. You can also use those at other countries that also have the same outlets. There are some countries that aren’t compatible however. Those include Italy, Brazil, Souft Africa, Chile and Switzerland.
Another thing I want to note is that the Poweradd adapter does not include a voltage converter. It can be used with 100 V to 240 V. But always make sure that device you are plugging into the adapter is suitable for the voltage coming from the original outlet.
4. Skross World Travel Adaptor 3 – $37
Skross is a company from Switzerland that’s dedicated to designing travel accessories. Those include the best travel adapters, USB chargers and even power banks. And the best part about their products is the unique and compact design. That’s also one of the reasons why their travel adaptor is one of my favorites. But besides that, I was also amazed by their website. They have a wonderful homepage that has gives you the exact adapter you’ll need based on where you are travelling to. Be sure to check it out.
The adapter is actually quite bulky (dimension 72×67×58 mm / 2.8×2.6×2.3″ and weight 182 g / 0.4 lbs) due to the sliding design. There are 4 different prongs inside the adapter that slide out based on the type you need. The advantage of it compared to other smaller adapters is that you can use them all over the world. There is also a lock button that stops the prongs from going back. The adapter itself is made out of a pretty hard plastic. I also like the build quality of the sliders. They are really sturdy and even after long periods of use they are still like new.
- Dimensions: 72×67×58 mm / 2.8×2.6×2.3″
- Weight: 182 g / 0.4 lbs
- Plugs: UK, USA, Australia, China, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, European Union
- Outlets: UK, USA, Japan, Australia, China, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, European Union
- Max Power: 660W at 110V, 1380W at 230V
- Allowed Voltage: 100-250V
Like most travel adapters, the Skross adapter isn’t a voltage converter either. So if voltage is going to be an issue, then I recommend looking at one with a converter. But other than that, it works exactly as advertised. The outputs are compatible with a number of different country types: Australia / China, Italy, Switzerland, UK, USA, Brazil and Schuko (Europe).
5. Kensington K38237WW – $40
Kensington is the leading company in desktop and mobile accessories. They have been in business for more than 35 years now and are mostly known for their commercial solutions. They provide the necessary products for companies and professionals, so you can always expect the highest quality from them. The Kensington K38237WW travel adapter is designed for business travellers and professionals. So obviously the build quality of the adapter is also as good as it can get. The body is made out of high quality plastic that just feels nice in your hand. It’s also surprisingly compact, despite having a slider design. There are knobs on the side that are used to slide out the plugs you need. And the way that they slide is also done perfectly. The movement is smooth and solid, absolutely no random movement or any looseness at all. There is also a fix button that locks the plug once it’s out. Oh and the dimensions for the adapter are 65×60×55 mm / 2.6×2.4×2.2″ and it weighs 181 g / 0.4 lbs.
- Dimensions: 65×60×55 mm / 2.6×2.4×2.2″

- Allowed Voltage: 100-250V
The universal travel adapter is also compatible with both grounded and ungrounded plugs. There is even an internal fuse that protects your devices from getting damaged due to power surges. That does not mean you can use devices that aren’t compatible with the voltage at the country you are at however. It doesn’t come with a voltage converter so be careful with that. The device can be used in over 200 countries. The slide out plugs are compatible with the type of outlets at USA, Japan, Australia, China, UK and European Union. And of course all other countries that use the same type of outlets.
6. BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter & Voltage Converter – $40
Most of the best travel adapters don’t have a voltage converter. Which is especially annoying for people travelling from the USA. BESTEK is a brand that has managed to combine the two into one. They have the best selling travel adapter on Amazon that also comes with a nice built-in voltage converter! It enables you to keep using your devices if you travel from USA to Europe or anywhere else in the world that uses 220V.
With a dimension of 152×76×40 mm / 6×3×1.57″ and weight of 544 g / 1.2 lbs, the BESTEK adapter if definitely bigger than most other adapters. Which does make sense, considering that it also has a built-in voltage converter. Unlike other adapters, this one isn’t plugged straight into the outlet. Instead it reminds more of a power bank or a laptop charger. It comes with a 152 cm / 5 ft long detachable cable that’s plugged into an AC outlet and the converter is meant to sit on a desk or a table for example. There are also 3 different plug adapters for the cable. So in total there are 4 types of plugs: European Union, UK, USA and Australia.
