Jaybird X2 Review
Jaybird is known for making some of the best wireless headphones for working out. The company gained it’s fame when it released the BlueBuds X headphones a couple of years ago. Since then, they have gained a loyal fan base and recognition for making some of the best wireless earbuds on the market.
So while the BlueBuds X was amazing, technology advances and so they released their newest model: the X2. The Jaybird X2 has some nice improvements, which make it even more sports oriented. When the Jaybird X2 wireless headphones were first released, they cost $150. Now you can get them for $80! So there has been a pretty nice price drop over time. This is also one of the reasons why I wanted to do this review. It’s time to see if they are worth spending $80 on.
In The Box
- Jaybird X2 wireless headphones
- 3 pairs of ear fins/wings
- 6 pairs of earbud tips
- MicroUSB cable
- Cord clips
- Carrying case
The Jaybird X2’s are wireless in-ear headphones. So they have a pretty standard design. What they have is a really nice build quality. They feel solid and strong. They are also super lightweight, you can barely feel them at all. I also love the cable on the Jaybirds. Its the anti-tangling flat style cable, which feels strong. Don’t have to worry about it breaking. The cable also comes with clips, which can be used to shorten it if it’s too long.
These headphones also come with a remote control on the cable. It’s the 3 button type so you can use it to change volume, music and pick up calls. The MicroUSB charging port is hidden in the back of an earbud.
What makes these headphones special though is that it is sweat proof and fully designed for working out. The headphones come with 6 pairs of earbud tips, so you have no problem finding the right pair. You also get 3 pairs of ear fins/wings. The ones that come with X2 are actually smaller and more comfortable than on the BlueBuds X. The fins keep the earbuds glued to your ear.
The Jaybird X2’s also come in a nice variety of colors. You can choose between khaki (alpha), lime (charge), red (fire), blue (ice), black (midnight) and white (storm). Overall I really like the design of the Jaybirds. They are really comfortable once you find the best way it fits your ears. For me, I need to turn the winged tip a little forward so it sits nicely.
The Jaybird X2 is known for it’s amazing sound quality. It is surprisingly good considering that these are in-ears and wireless. I would say that the audio quality is well-balanced. There is both great clarity and decent bass. Nothing has been overemphasized or too much. If you are into some crazy bass then you need to get them to fit right. This way they will please even the biggest bass addicts. They are capable of playing every genre though.
Most wireless Bluetooth headphones have a serious problem with connectivity. Jaybird on the other hand is known for exactly amazing connection. The headphones sound amazingly clear even from 10m/33ft away. Besides that, the headphones can also play continuous music for up to 8 hours. So running out of battery shouldn’t be a problem with these.
The Jaybird X2 wireless earbuds are in my opinion the best headphones for working out. They have great sound and build quality, feel comfortable and most of all just work really well. Not to mention the price of $80, which makes them much more affordable now. I have actually rated these headphones as the best for gym as well. If you are looking for new gym headphones and willing to invest a little, then these are the best wireless headphones for you.
