JBL Reflect Mini BT Review
JBL is an all American audio electronics company. What they are most known for are their speakers and headphones. Today I am going to review one of their most loved sports focused wireless headphone. It is actually one of my favorite wireless headphones for running. And for $80, it is definitely cheaper than some of it’s competitors. Let’s see how well it ranks though on the score board.
In The Box
- JBL Reflect Mini BT wireless headphones
- 2 Fin pairs
- 3 Tip pairs
- MicroUSB charging cable
The most important part of sporting focused headphones is the fit. JBL has definitely nailed that. Most other companies have made the fins and tips separate. More so, the fins/wings are usually made out of plastic. What I found pretty interesting and unique about the JBL Reflect Mini BT headphones is that the wings are made out of the same rubber flexible material as the tips. Also, the wings and tips fit together making a one whole piece. They actually feel like a custom piece for your ear. They fit really well and snug. Both the wings and tips come in different sizes.
Also another great feature for the JBL headphones is that they are sweat proof. This makes them perfect for physical activities and you don’t have to worry about them breaking from moisture. Another feature the JBL Reflect Mini BT’s have is the cable/cord. It has a reflector, which adds extra safety for runners at night. A really nice and thought out feature.
The headphones itself are super light weight. The cable has also got a remote control for picking up calls or switching between music. I like how the controller has elevated buttons, which helps you feel by touch which button you are looking for. Especially useful as you can’t see the button when wearing it. The controller has also got a light indicator, which lets you know if the battery is low. It has also got the microUSB port for charging.
You can also choose between 4 different colors: black, blue, red and teal.
The JBL Reflect Mini BT wireless headphones actually sound really really nice. The low bass end is super smooth. But it also has a nice clear mid and high range. I listened to some pop songs that had different instrumental effects in the background and I could hear everything crystal clear. I also listened to other genres such as rap and indie, everything sounded really good. Nothing about the sound is over-done or over-optimized.
According to JBL, the Reflect Mini BT wireless headphones last up to 8 hours continuous music. I personally managed to get 7 hours and 30 minutes, so close enough. Also it takes 2 hours to fully charge the battery. Now I know some of you are going to be using these at the gym. Which also means that you are probably going to want to keep your smartphone in the gym bag. You can easily do that as I was still getting crystal clear sound even at 10m/33ft away from my iPhone.
Honestly I feel as the JBL Reflect Mini BT’s are amazing wireless headphones for running and gym. The unique fin and tip modular design make these the most comfortable earbuds I have ever worn. It seriously feels like they have been custom made for my ears. The sound is good, nothing has been over done or make any music sound worse. And also finally the price tag of $80. Which does make them cheaper than the Jaybird X2. I will probably make a little comparison review between these two as well.
If you are in the market for new wireless earbuds for either running or gym, then I totally recommend the JBL Reflect Mini BT’s. You can’t go wrong with these.
