Panasonic RP-HJE120 Review

Panasonic RP-HJE120 Review

There are headphones for literally everything. I have mostly been reviewing sport oriented earbuds but today I am going to review the most basic earbuds available – the Panasonic RP-HJE120. The reason for that is because these earbuds are literally recommended everywhere. So I had to get myself these and see how well they work in a gym environment. The price of these earbuds is $10 so super cheap compared to others.

In The Box

  • Panasonic RP-HJE120 earbuds
  • 3 pairs of earbud tips

The Panasonic RP-HJE120 earbuds come in a plastic package. They include the earbuds and 3 pairs of extra tips in different size. So a pretty standard package. Once you take the headphones out, the first thing you’ll notice is that the ear part doesn’t look on traditional earbuds. The tip part that goes into your ear is a bit on the side. This design actually fits better in your ears and just feels really comfortable. Probably why they are also part of Panasonics Ergo-Fit line.

The earbuds itself are pretty small and light. The wire of the headphones is pretty thin as well. Much like other cheaper headphones. On the plus side though, it comes with an L shaped jack, which usually makes the breaking of cable less frequent. The cable is also decently long that it won’t be too short in any way. What speaks for the build quality of these headphones is that they last really long. There are countless of Reddit threads, where people say that they have been using these for 2-3 years and only then break. For $10 headphones, that kind of build quality is amazing.

PS. The RP-HJE120 model doesn’t come with a remote control on the cable. These are the cheapest and most basic model. I have personally gone with these because I use them at the gym and I have no need for a remote there. If you are looking for a model with a remote then check out the Panasonic RP-TCM125, they cost $15. The sound and design is exactly the same as on the RP-HJE120.

As far as sound quality goes, it isn’t disappointing at all. I sometimes see these super cheap no name headphones that are advertised with crazy bass. That is usually used to hide the real lack of quality. With Panasonics, the sound is actually quite natural. I would give it a 4 out of 5. You can hear most songs clearly. They do sound better when listening to Pop or more bass influenced music. That is just because these are $10 headphones after all.

These Panasonic RP-HJE120 Ergo-Fit earbuds are the best headphones you can get for under $10. I have personally used these at the gym and I know that they are recommended by people on Reddit as well.

A place like the Gym just destroys headphones. They will get stuck behind machines, wires will bend and break, sweat will kill at least one earplug. All of these will happen eventually. So these are a great cheap solution for when you don’t want to spend on special wireless sports headphones. They do get the job done and work just as well.
