PARA: The Smart Laser Measure

A laser measure is a fantastic tool for measuring distances efficiently. They are part of the must have tools that every contractor or engineer should have. But the main problem is usually the price. Sure you can grab a basic laser without spending too much. The smarter options, however, can cost up to a $1000. A company called the ACXION Inc is looking to change that with their newest smart laser measure, the PARA!

PARA Smart Laser Measure Design

PARA is a smart laser measure like no other. It literally uses two lasers to measure distances and angles that would be impossible for 99% of the devices currently available. And not only that. The device even has a wheel that you can use to measure round objects. Just run it around the edge of a table and you got the distance. It’s a truly unique feature that should be useful for everyone.

Technical Specification

  • Dimensions: 6×1.9×1.5″ (153×49×38 mm)
  • Weight: 6.4 oz (182 grams)
  • Accuracy: +/- 1 mm
  • Range: 164 ft (50 meters)
  • Units: m, ft, in

The device itself is actually surprisingly compact. It has a dimension of 6×1.9×1.5 inches (153×49×38 mm) and weighs only 6.4 oz (182 grams), so it’s no bigger than any other laser measure. The tool is made out of plastic and it seems to have a decent build quality as it’s also designed to be dust-proof. Besides the laser measure, PARA also includes a tripod mount and an alignment wrench.

PARA Smart Laser Measure Tripod

The PARA smart laser measure has a built-in 1100 mAh LiPo battery that’s charged with the MicroUSB cable. It has around 14 hours of battery life and it takes 5 hours to fully charge it. Which isn’t bad at all considering that it has two lasers, an LCD screen and even Bluetooth. You can use the Bluetooth to send all the data straight to your smartphone. ACXION has even created an App for it that’s available on both iOS and Android systems.

So if you have been looking for a new truly smart laser measure without going broke, then I recommend checking out PARA on Kickstarter. They have already beaten their initial $10,000 goal by raising over $70,000 with 5 days left to go. They are planning to start shipping in January 2019.
