PIE: The Smart Tape For Measuring Your Body

PIE is an all new smart tape measure that’s been developed by Bagel Labs. They are a startup company that’s specialized in new innovative technology. Two years ago they introduced the worlds first smart tape measure as well, but that was for measuring distances. The PIE is a totally different tape measure. It’s designed for measuring your body!

We all know the problems of working out and checking your weight. But the problem is that scales just aren’t reliable. Quite often you end up gaining weight instead while you have actually been losing weight. That’s because working out also gains muscle, which can be seen from the mirror instead of the scale. Well another way to track your progress is by measuring parts of your body. Such as checking the size of your waist, thighs and arms.

But measuring them on your own with a normal tape is usually quite annoying. It’s hard to get an accurate read and it always requires too much work. And Bagel Labs believes that PIE is the solution to that. The new smart measuring tape has some interesting features to make using it easier.

PIE Smart Tape Measure Design

The PIE measuring tape has a maximum length of 150 cm / 59 inches. It also comes with a unique hook lock mechanism. Which means that you can attach the end of the tape to the PIE’s case. Then scroll the fastening gear and the tape will get tighter around you. Which gets you an accurate measurement and you don’t have to worry about it coming loose. And all you have to do after that is press the Save button. That will send the measurement to your phone via Bluetooth!

PIE Smart Tape Measure App

The PIE smart app is available on both iOS and Android devices. It keeps track of all the measurements you have taken and you can also categorize all of them based on which part of the body you measure. You can also set different goals within the App and then see how you are doing.

Unfortunately the PIE smart tape isn’t available yet for delivery. It can currently be pre-ordered on Kickstarter for $49. As of today, they have beaten their initial goal of $30.000 by raising $45.639 with 26 days left to go!
